Hangatiki Primary School is a two teacher rural school situated south of Otorohanga.
The school has three large classrooms, a large collection of teacher resources, a swimming pool, a large well resourced library, and grounds that contain a rugby field, courts, covered sandpit, a junior playground and a large adventure playground. The attractive grounds have many varieties of shade trees and its own native tree reserve on the boundary.
Each class has networked computers, internet and phone link. The ratio of computers to pupils is approximately one computer to four children.
The children of the school come from the Hangatiki/ Whawharua farming district, Te Kuiti and Otorohanga township. The majority of children travel to school from these areas by bus.
A Commissioner was appointed to the school in 2010. This has been a positive move that helps maintain our high standards and continues to guide our school in the right direction.
We have equipment and facilities for programmes of work to match the facilities of larger town and city schools, while still enjoying small class sizes.
Our community is very supportive and are actively involved in raising funds for the benefit of the children and school.
The Hangatiki school community is very proud of its school and the high standards that we aim for our children and their achievements in curriculum, arts and sports activities.
We welcome new families and children.
